SUMMARY
Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company seeking a dedicated and experienced Holding Tank Manager to oversee and manage the operation of multiple fish pumps, monitor tank temperatures, and ensure the overall quality of fish. The ideal candidate will have strong multitasking abilities, experience in fish processing and pumping, and excellent communication skills to work with various teams. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of operation, following FIFO (First-In-First-Out) rules for pumping fish, and ensuring smooth communication between production and deck crews. As we grow, we’re looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage Fish Pumps: Operate and oversee multiple fish pumps to ensure efficient and smooth processing, while adhering to safety and operational standards.
- Monitor Fish Quality & Tank Conditions: Regularly check tank temperatures and monitor overall quality. Report any abnormalities to appropriate personnel and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal conditions for fish.
- Track Lot Codes: Accurately track and document lot codes for fish products to ensure proper traceability throughout the production process.
- Communication with Deck Crew: Coordinate effectively with the deck crew to ensure seamless offloading and buying processes, ensuring the fish are transferred and handled correctly.
- Multi-tasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, balancing the needs of production while responding to requests from the deck crew and ensuring operational priorities are met.
- HMI Interaction: Utilize and interact with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to monitor and control various system parameters, ensuring smooth operation.
- Follow FIFO Guidelines: Ensure proper FIFO practices are followed during fish pumping and processing, optimizing flow and minimizing waste.
- Maintain Compliance: Follow all safety, quality control, and regulatory procedures to maintain a high standard of operational integrity.
- Safety: Complete all safety training and documentation as required by local, state and federal regulations with emphasis on Coast Guard requirements.
- Other Duties: Complete all other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in fish processing and fish pumping operations is a major plus.
- Experience in a fish tender role with direct engagement in fish pumping is ideal.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment, balancing both production and operational needs.
- Knowledge of HMI systems and the ability to monitor and adjust various operational parameters simultaneously.
- Familiarity with FIFO (First-In-First-Out) practices in a production environment.
- A strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high fish quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Knowledge of appropriate use of emergency equipment located on the barge.
- Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to routinely work 12+ hour shifts while occasionally working 16+ during peak season.
- Positive, all-hands-on-deck attitude.

This job operates primarily on a barge at sea in Bristol Bay, AK. This role routinely uses equipment common in transferring fish through pumps. Additionally, this position will require knowledge of fish pump setup and maintenance. Employee must be able to stand, walk and generally navigate a wet and cold barge environment for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
