SUMMARY

Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company looking for a motivated, detail-oriented seasonal Vessel Office Assistants to help execute our day-to-day office operations onboard our processing barge during the 2025 Bristol Bay salmon season. This position will require living at-sea for approximately 60 days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Perform general administrative duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and managing office supplies.
  • Assist the vessel administrator with running the onboard sea store, accurately handling cash, processing sales transactions, and ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for both physical and electronic records.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist with any inquiries from staff or visitors.
  • Collect and organize fish tickets and tender sale documents for onshore processing.
  • Assist in employee onboarding – scheduling room assignments, coordinating with housekeeping, tracking room keys, safety protocols, etc.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing employee attendance by overseeing time clock records to ensure staff are present for their scheduled shifts.
  • Assist Quality Assurance team with data entry as needed.
  • Serve as the gatekeeper for equipment and key check-outs.
  • Assist with basic first aid as needed.
  • Be open and willing to perform any other duties as assigned to support daily operations in a dynamic environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in an office setting, administrative role, or similar capacity preferred – bonus if you’ve previously worked with fisheries.
  • Basic knowledge of cash handling and sales recording systems.
  • Experience with time tracking software or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work 12+ hour days, 7 days per week over a 60+ day season in Bristol Bay, AK.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.

This job largely operates in an office environment, though navigation of wet, slippery, and close quarters aboard a barge setting will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and both physical and digital filing cabinets. The employee must be able to sit or stand at a computer for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively with barge management. Must be able to lift 30 pounds individually and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
